19th Century Aesthetic Movement Hand Painted Linen PressThis is a fantastic looking piece furniture it dates from the mid 19th century
The press is painted in the Romantic style known as Aestheticism, art from this particular movement focused on things being beautiful
The background paint is pale cream paint which is overlaid with a striking black open mesh
The press is sturdy and sound, though the paint now has an age darkened slightly distressed finish but still a very exceptional piece
The top section of the Linen Press has a modern hanging rail enclosed by large panelled doors, and this sits on top of a 4 drawer chest of drawers with 2 short drawers over 2 longer drawers
The press has an elegant age darkened gold cornice on top and it stands on similar gold turned feet
This cabinet gives not only a substantial amount of storage but has great presence, it would work very well as a stand alone piece
The press can be separated for transportation it is 86”high, 52”wide and 27”deep
