Breton Carved Oak and Chestnut Marriage Double BedFrench Carved Oak and Chestnut ( the wood much favoured by artisan carvers) Double Bed, a Marriage Bed in the Breton style, depicting scenes from the country side
This is a superb piece 19th Century Carving, the end boards have the characteristic Breton Wheel of Life in the centre, the Head Board has pictures of trees and our young couple while the foot board has a scene one of the young couples dancing with merriment, and the sides of the bed too are carved
The bed is 57” wide and the top is 62” high, the interior size (mattress size) is 54” x 74” it comes with a purpose made pine slatted base and breaks down for transportation
