Description

French Bleached Oak Sideboard or Sacristy Cupboard
This is a 19th Century French Sacristy Cabinet, used to in a church to keep church articles safely, the sideboard has a worn bleached finish that enhances the carving and gives a new dimension to a formerly Dark Gothic Oak piece, the cupboard is not waxed but we will do this for you if this is the finish you require
The Cupboard is crisply carved there are lion’s masks on the drawer fronts with hand forged handles and 4 more carving of Saints on the front of the cupboard doors, the sides and plinth have linen fold carvings and the cupboard stands on chunky bun feet. The dresser top is solid oak 2" thick with a moulded edge, the carvings are sound and show no signs of damage, it has a key and the lock works, but being an early 19th Century piece it has been attacked by French Wood worm in the past, we have had this treated but it had been dead for many years
The Cupboard is 51" long, 21" deep and 36" high
